SchoolNova runs math classes for children ranging from pre-K to 16-year-olds. These classes follow a curriculum developed by our faculty, which complements the standard school curriculum. It combines more in-depth study of some of the basic mathematical skills (such as finding the least common multiple or solving quadratic equations), which are covered in school but not always in sufficient depth, and puzzles, Olympiad-style and other challenging problems, which teach students to think on their own, and show that math is more than just a list of formulas.

A detailed syllabus of our math classes (subject to change) can be found here.

Many students take our physics and math classes in parallel. It is a great way to be introduced to the study of fundamental science and to apply in practice some of what they learn in their mathematics classes.

In physics, children learn to understand the phenomena of the world around them in a rational way. They are encouraged to ask questions to analyze any given problem in order to solve it. We teach them to translate their ideas and observations into the language of mathematics and to systematize their knowledge, that is, given a certain set of basic principles to use logic to achieve understanding of more complex phenomena. < Through this process the children can get experience in using scientific method and gain self-confidence that they need to study any science, enjoy it and not be afraid of its challenges.

Please see the detailed syllabus of our physics and chemistry classes.

In the second half of the course, students cover modules, working with libraries like NumPy, and reading/writing files. Successful completion of the course is based on class participation and homework assignments."

CS 201 class description: CS 201 is the second year in the sequence of Computer Science courses at School Nova. The programming language used for this course will continue to be Python. In this course students will be exposed to a number of computer science concepts such as data structures (e.g. lists, stacks, trees), algorithms (e.g for searching, and sorting) and real-world uses for these methods. While fundamental knowledge of Python (as evidenced by successfully finishing all assignments of CS101 independently) is required, this course is not a a deeper dive into Python - rather the student will be leveraging their past skills to solve challenging problems.
