About me
My name is Amanda Martocello and after acting as a Substitute teacher with SchoolNova for 2 years, I'm so excited to begin my 2nd year as an Advanced English and Literature Teacher.
I graduated with my BA in English from Stony Brook University in 2014 and went on to complete my MSLIS from Queens College in 2021. Over the past decade, I have worked with students from Pre-School through upper level college courses level in English Composition, Literature Studies, and test preparation.
My objective is to help my students build their confidence in both writing and presentation, and for them to learn that there really is a story for everyone. The idea is for students to take part in the learning process. I want my students to inquire, discuss and really get invested/involved in the materials. Throughout my education, I have spent countless hours in classrooms sitting quietly and taking notes, only to then realize I didn't really retain anything. For students to get the most out of class time, they need to be actively involved. I firmly believe that every student will have something different to bring into the classroom and as their teacher it is my job to help them find what works for them and embrace their uniqueness.
