Online Learning Policies

BEHAVIOR EXPECTATIONS:

  • Students are expected to be in class on time.
  • Students should avoid unnecessary chatter with each other so everyone can learn in an orderly environment.  
  • Students are expected to be prepared with all necessary materials for learning, including homework assignments. 
  • Parents are responsible for explaining the school rules to their children.
  • The school has no control of and assumes no responsibility for non-school related web surfing activity of the students.  
  • Parents are welcome to observe classes but may not interrupt the class in any way, including talking with their child.
  • Parents of our youngest children are responsible for helping their children stay focused and practice their best behavior.

 

ONLINE ​SECURITY:

  • Don't share your password with anyone.
  • Always log out when you are finished using the system.
  • SN accounts and the associated email addresses, student@schoolnova.org  are for participation in SN online learning activities.
  • The usage of SN accounts must exclude any activity that might compromise the quality and integrity of SN online learning program, or SN image and public standing.
  • Be careful with personal information (both yours and others)
  • Do not send confidential information via e-mail.

BEFORE A VIRTUAL SESSION:

  • For your safety and privacy, set up your working space in such way that  the details of your house  are not visible to other Zoom users
  • Establish a routine: try to use the same room and desk for every lesson.
  • Be prepared  - download any necessary software,  connect and test devices like microphones or video cameras before the lesson begins.
  • Clear the room of playful pets or noisy siblings and other distractions.
  • Minimize background noise by turning off the TV and radio.
  • Turn off cell phones. (No multitasking during class!)
  • Exit other applications on computers prior to launching the classroom software.
  • Use the “raise hand” button in the virtual classroom to ask questions, answer questions, and participate in discussions without interrupting. 

DURING A VIRTUAL SESSION:

  • Do not share your Zoom link and password with anyone outside of your household
  • Connect to your class on time
  • Treat your instructor and classmates with respect
  • Have your camera ON so that the teachers can see your face
  • Use only your real name when in zoom
  • Using chatroom is not allowed for non-class related communications
  • Audio/video recording or screenshots of zoom sessions is strictly prohibited
  • Use clear and concise language
