COVID-19 Prevention Guidance and Policies

SchoolNova at Stony Brook is committed to ensure the health and well-being of our students and staff by continuing monitoring the information and updates regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19).

We are currently following the lead of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the New York State Department of Health (NYDH), Stony Brook University (SBU), as well as other local, state, and federal agencies to make sure we have the most up-to-date information available.

In order to facilitate the safest learning environment possible, SchoolNova at Stony Brook has adopted the following COVID-19 safety protocols:

Before Coming to School

To reduce transmission in school, it is vital that no student, parent, teacher, or staff member comes to school while sick.

  • We ask parents/guardians to check their child/children for any COVID-19 symptoms prior to arrival to school, which includes checking the child’s temperature.
  • The symptoms may include:
    • Fever or chills
    • Cough
    • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
    • Fatigue
    • Muscle or body aches
    • Headache
    • New loss of taste or smell
    • Sore throat
    • Congestion or runny nose
    • Nausea or vomiting
    • Diarrhea
  • We ask anyone with any signs or symptoms of an illness to stay home.
  • Please refer to a CDC Self-Checker to help identify signs of illness.
  • Parents/guardians should remind their children of the proper hygiene practices
