Description: The mission: escaping from the Earth. During this short course, we will learn some of the concepts required to successfully escape our planet. First, we will understand how Gravity and Potential Energy make it so hard for us to escape. Then, we will understand how a Rocket overcomes these problems by using the Momentum Conservation Law. Then, we will understand how to orbit around the Earth in a controlled fall. Finally, we will explore some fun alternatives such as the Space Elevator and the Sky Hook. This course requires only basic concepts of Physics, such as those covered in Physics 0, so there is no placement test required.
