Below is a list of public activities offered by SchoolNova and Stony Brook University for children in the community.
All events are free of charge.
- SchoolNova hosts seven academic competitions that are open to all children from the community free of charge.
- SchoolNova offers math and physics clubs. All clubs are available for middle and high school students free of charge. Join to solve Olympiad-style problems and prepare for competitions.
- SchoolNova invites to attend CaféNova - a project that connects high schoolers with faculty, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows from Brookhaven National Lab, Stony Brook University, and the Simons Center for Geometry and Physics in a casual and non-intimidating setting. Students are welcome to the following events hosted by Stony Brook University:
- Public lectures at the Simons Center for Geometry and Physics delivered by leading scientists. All the lectures are announced on the Center's website and through posters on the university campus. This includes the Della Pietra lecture series.
- Lectures on Astronomy, Physics, Geosciences, Ecology, and Evolution are given almost every week during the school year. These lectures are targeted at the general audience and are delivered by the university faculty on topics related to their research. Schedules and information can be found here:
