About me

I graduated from Samara State University (Samara, Russia), and received PhD in chemistry and molecular biology from Engelhardt Institute of Molecular Biology (Moscow, Russia). Currently I am a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacology at Stony Brook.

My experience in teaching tells me that clear understanding of chemistry can be better achieved by school students when each lesson answers the questions that has already appeared in student’s mind. It would be is hardly productive to discuss, for example, chemical periodicity before students have learnt about common chemical substances, about their reactions, and about commonalities and differences between them. During our lessons, my students and I will be gradually constructing the building of chemical theory starting from basic concepts, empirical facts and observations.
