Physics competitions

SchoolNova is planning to register for two Physics competitions this year - F=ma and PhysicsBowl competitions (see below). The registration for F=ma is open right now (see below). Both competitions are sponsored by SchoolNova and participations is free for all students (you shouldn't be a SchoolNova student to participate, BUT you should email to if you want us to buy a test for you).

The F=ma test is going to be on January 23 or 25 of 2019. Registration deadline is December 4, 2018.

If you would like to participate in this competition, please, let us know asap so that we could have an estimate of the number of students for the registration. Please, send e-mail to if you plan to participate in F=ma (this is not a final commitment, just to give us an idea of number of people interested).

1. F=ma
The F=ma exam is a 75-minute exam with 25 multiple choice questions focusing on mechanics. Two versions of the exam are given, the F=ma A and F=ma B.
AAPT and the American Institute of Physics (AIP) sponsor a competition each year for high school students to represent the United States at the International Physics Olympiad Competition. AAPT is responsible for recruiting, selecting and training teams each year to compete in the International Physics Olympiad Competition. This selection process begins in late January when high schools register their students to participate in the F=ma exam. Approximately 400 top scorers on this first test advance to the USA Physics Olympiad Exam.

2. PhysicsBowl
The PhysicsBowl is a competition for high school students and schools. Every year in April, students and schools compete by answering 40 multiple choice questions from topics taken in high school physics.
