About me

Experience:

Teaching

2010-2012 Laurel Hill School.

Taught Leadership Class (Algebra, Logic, Geometry) for Middle School program, Math Clubs for elementary school, Summer Enrichment Program.

2006-2008 Department of Mathematics, SUNY at Stony Brook, Teaching assistant, Instructor

Taught Introduction to Calculus, Calculus A, Calculus with Applications and Analysis for Teachers.

2005-present: Working at our enrichment program for school age children at Stony Brook.

Prepared and introduced students to non routine, mind-simulating problems, which can’t be solved without original insight. Persuaded students to understand instead of memorize. Taught to analyze the problem, be creative and not blindly follow the standard methods.

1998-2001, Department of Mathematics, Voronezh State University Russia, Algebra and Topological Methods of Analysis Division, Instructor

Taught Topology, Linear Algebra, Introduction to Analysis, Probability and Analytic Geometry. Worked as a tutor for students. Was part of a research group working on problems in Pedagogic and Psychology of teaching university level courses. As a part of this work developed a few methods of my own in teaching Mathematics to undergraduate students with non-mathematics major. Have 1 publication in Pedagogic as a result.

1996-2000, High School # 13, Voronezh, Russia, Teacher of Mathematics and Computer Science

Taught Informatics, Analytic Geometry and Introductory Analysis to high school students. Successfully trained students for participation in Mathematical and Computer Science Olympiads.

1997-2000, Koltsov Private school, Voronezh, Russia, Teacher of Mathematics and Computer Science

Taught Informatics to elementary and middle school students, Analytic Geometry and Introductory Analysis to high school students. Developed and successfully applied several strategies to explain the given topic for both low achievers and gifted students. Worked as a tutor for students.

Research

Worked o characteristic indices of singular points of frames (case of n-dimensional and infinite-dimensional manifolds), generalization of homotopic groups, k-adic homotopy groups. This work resulted in 11 publications in various mathematical journals (such as Notes of Russian Academy of Natural Science and others).
