About me

Encouraging Latin culture was imperative growing up. My parents are from Puerto Rico and believed that migrating must not change our cultural foundation. We were engrossed in the music, food, arts and beliefs of our Hispanic culture. As an adult, I appreciate the versatility. I graduated with a Masters in HR Management from Stony Brook University, where I am currently employed, and a MBA/Public Accounting from OSWEGO College. I am also an Adjunct professor at Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology. My professional and educational experiences have greatly determined my educational philosophy. Learning new skills and applying them to one’s life is a constant process. In my teaching career, I like to have an environment of creativity and exploration that facilitates the growth potential of each student creating positive experiences. These experiences develop academic, intellectual, and social skills necessary to all jobs. My teaching goal is to help students realize the power of education beyond the classroom. As a Spanish teacher it is my goal to help students achieve the basic skills to understand and communicate in that language, and to also develop an interest and appreciation of the Hispanic culture that has become such an important, integral part of American life. I seek to create a positive, challenging, fun and energetic classroom environment that will motivate and help students succeed at becoming proficient in the language.
