Helmut Strey


About me

Helmut graduated from the Technical University Munich with a PhD in physics (biophysics) in 1993. He spent the next 5 years at the National Institutes of Health as Fogarty fellow. In 1998, he became an assistant professor in the Department of Polymer Science and Engineering. In 2004, he moved to Stony Brook University to join the Biomedical Engineering Department as Associate Professor and Graduate Program Director. Helmut received the Dillon medal for research in Polymer Physics from the American Physical Society in 2003. He loves teaching science and engineering to children and young adults using a hands-on approach.
