  • Assigned on 09/16: Lamb to the Slaughter  |
  • Assigned on 09/23:
Please complete the Irony handout that you received last Sunday.
  • Assigned on 09/30: Seeking Revenge  |
  • Assigned on 10/14:
I am giving you time to rewrite or revamp your thesis statements. You are writing about revenge. In what ways do Mary Maloney and John Wilkes Booth handle revenge? How are they similar and/or how are they different? There is a lot of room in this essay prompt to create an argument. You are free to talk about their behaviors, their emotions, how they process their actions, etc. Use this freedom to create a solid thesis statement. Remember, a thesis statement must be arguable.
  • Assigned on 10/21:
For homework, please write a rough draft of your essay. DO NOT WRITE YOUR CONCLUSION! We will work on conclusions in class.
  • Assigned on 10/28:
FINISH YOUR ESSAYS! Come to class with a completed draft - TYPED (double spaced, 12 point font, Times New Roman)
  • Assigned on 11/4: Writing Competition. Let's Begin!  |
  • Assigned on 11/11:
Please write an outline of your writing competition submission. If you are writing poetry, jot down ideas, words, stanza topics, etc. If you are submitting to short story, flash fiction, or any other prose genre, have a detailed outline of your story. You will be writing in class. Some of you are coming to class without your homework. This is not acceptable. This week I expect all of you to have your homework.
  • Assigned on 11/18:
TYPE a draft of your Scholastic Arts and Writing submission. I often say this, but I will say it again...DO NOT come to class without your typed draft. We have a week off of school, you have 2 weeks to complete this, and you worked on it in class last week. No excuses! Happy Thanksgiving!!
  • Assigned on 12/2:
Please submit your work to the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. Bring your completed work to class next week. NO COMPUTERS IN CLASS. ONLY PRINTED WORK!
  • Assigned on 12/9: Final Copy of Letter  |
  • Assigned on 12/16:
Your only homework is to edit and mail out (or hand deliver) your gratitude letters. Have a wonderful holiday break. No matter what you celebrate, take time to share your gratitude with those around you. ❤️
  • Assigned on 01/6: Generation Z  |
  • Assigned on 01/13:
    There's no homework

  • Assigned on 01/27: GenZ claim and quotes  |
  • Assigned on 02/3:
Please begin typing your article. On Sunday I will be checking your introductions. They MUST be typed, double spaced, 12 point font, and at least 5 sentences. Please do not come to class with it written and please don’t hand me your laptop. If you have an issue with printing, email me no later than Friday night. Saturday morning is not Friday night.
  • Assigned on 02/10:
Please begin writing your article. I checked your introductions and they were spot on! Keep going. Come to class with the first 2 pages typed (MLA format). This will be a 4 page paper. Email me with any questions or concerns before 2/17, this way you have plenty of time to get your work done.

Again, this is still a draft, you will have one more opportunity to edit. Make your life easier and make this a solid draft, so that you don't have more work later.
